Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman David Price (NC-04), Chairman of Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that $18.9 million of funding for 4th District transportation projects has been included for consideration in the INVEST in America Act, also known as the surface transportation reauthorization bill. The bill is expected to be considered by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee this week and the full House in the weeks that follow.

"Transportation connects us all -- it greatly impacts how we live, work, and play -- but America is behind in creating an appropriate transportation ecosystem for the 21st century," said Congressman David Price. "The INVEST in America Act is a blueprint to modernize our nation's infrastructure, and I am pleased to see that four projects in North Carolina's 4th District, totaling $18.9 million, were selected for consideration in this bill. While inclusion in the House proposal is just the first step in securing this funding, these projects represent the innovative approaches needed to update our transportation systems and give constituents more choices to safely travel."

Selected Fourth District Community Project Funding in the INVEST in America Act include:

Triangle Transit Agencies (Chapel Hill Transit, GoDurham, GoRaleigh, GoTriangle) Bus Replacements - $8 million
Duke/Durham Belt Line (City of Durham) - $7.726 million
Bryant Bridge North/Goose Creek West Trail in Durham (City of Durham) - $2.3 million
Chapel Hill Transit Bus Stop Improvements (Chapel Hill Transit/Town of Chapel Hill) - $900k
In April, Congressman Price submitted several Member Designated Project requests to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure for consideration. This new process to request direct funding for transportation projects required public disclosure to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of taxpayer funding. More information on these Member Designated Project Requests can be found here on Congressman Price's website.
